How I got this· 4 steps
  1. Used your MRR metric (certified)
  2. Looked at your Stripe subscriptions
  3. Split the change into new, upgrades and cancellations
  4. Checked how long cancelled subscribers had stayed

In plain words

How do I see MRR and churn from Stripe?

Stripe records every charge and subscription change, but its reports only go so far. Orcabase syncs your Stripe data into your warehouse through Fivetran. You define MRR and churn once, the way your business counts them, and certify them.

From then on the agent, your dashboards and your team all use the same numbers, and you can ask follow-ups like “which plan did we lose the most from?”

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your Stripe data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • What’s our MRR today, and how has it moved this year?

  • How many subscribers cancelled last month, and after how long?

  • How much revenue did failed payments cost us?

  • Which plan brings in the most revenue?

  • What’s our refund rate by product?

  • How much did Stripe keep in fees last quarter?

  • How big was our last payout, and what was in it?

  • Which customers have paid us the most, all time?

How to connect

Connect Stripe, step by step.

  1. 1

    Find it in Sync data

In Orcabase, go to Sync data → Add source and search for Stripe. Pick the database to sync into.

  2. 2

    Connect Stripe on Fivetran’s page

Create a restricted key in Stripe’s dashboard with read access, then paste it into Fivetran’s page. A read-only key can’t move money or change anything.

  3. 3

    Choose what to sync

Back in Orcabase, tick the data you want. Only what you pick is synced, and only it counts toward your allowance.

  4. 4

    Ask away

The first sync starts straight away. When it’s done, ask the agent about your Stripe data.

What you’ll need

  • A Stripe login that can create API keys, like an Administrator or Developer.
  • The Admin role in Orcabase, and data hosting: Fivetran writes into a database Orcabase hosts for you.

Questions

About Stripe and Orcabase

More in the docs: Sync apps with Fivetran

Will Orcabase’s MRR match Stripe’s dashboard?
Close, but not always to the cent. Stripe makes its own choices about discounts, trials and currencies. In Orcabase you define MRR once, the way you count it, and every chart shows how it’s worked out.
Does Orcabase see my customers’ card numbers?
No. Stripe never shares full card numbers through its API. The synced data has amounts, statuses and customers, and card details like the brand and last four digits.
Can Orcabase charge customers or issue refunds?
No. The key you create can only read, and Orcabase only reads the synced copy. Nothing in Orcabase can move money.
Do I need a Fivetran account?
No. Orcabase uses its own. You sign in to Stripe on Fivetran’s page, and the data lands in a database Orcabase hosts for you, so there’s nothing else to set up or pay Fivetran for.
How fresh is my Stripe data in Orcabase?
Fivetran syncs it every 6 hours as standard, and an admin can run a sync by hand at any time. The page for each source shows when it last synced and when it syncs next.
What does syncing cost?
Counts toward your monthly sync allowance: 500,000 changed rows a month, as standard. Each distinct row that’s added or changed in a month counts once, however often it changes, and the first full copy is free. You choose which tables sync, so you only spend the allowance on what you need.
