Google Sheets + Orcabase

Ask your spreadsheets anything.

Share a Google Sheet with Orcabase and every tab becomes something you can ask about, chart and pin to a dashboard. It syncs again on your schedule, so the numbers in Orcabase follow the sheet.

Did we hit August’s revenue target?

Reading your Google Sheets data…

August closed at $48.2k: 94% of the $51.2k target.

  • Subscriptions hit their target; one-time orders fell $3k short.
  • The gap opened the week the free-shipping banner ended.
  • September’s target needs 6% growth on August.

Revenue as % of target, by month

MarAprMayJunJul94Aug
How I got this· 4 steps
  1. Read the Targets tab of your planning sheet
  2. Used your Revenue metric (certified)
  3. Compared each month with its target
  4. Split the gap into subscriptions and one-time orders

In plain words

How do I turn a Google Sheet into a dashboard?

Share the sheet with Orcabase’s address as a Viewer and paste its link. Orcabase copies the tabs you pick into your warehouse, with row 1 as the column names, and syncs again every 15 minutes to once a day.

Then ask in plain words, or pin charts to a dashboard. The sheet stays the place you type; Orcabase is where you look, next to your orders and payments.

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your Google Sheets data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • Are we on track for this month’s targets?

  • Which costs grew fastest this quarter?

  • What did packaging cost us per order last month?

  • How does actual revenue compare with our forecast?

  • Which suppliers do we pay the most?

  • How many months of runway do we have at this month’s burn?

  • How many hours did we log on each project?

  • Turn the inventory tab into a weekly chart.

What comes in

Your Google Sheets data, ready to ask about.

A copy in a warehouse Orcabase hosts for you, refreshed in full on every sync.

01

Every tab you pick

Each tab comes in on its own, named after the tab, with row 1 as the column names.
02

New tabs, if you like

Tick one box and tabs added later are picked up automatically.
03

Numbers that add up

Orcabase works out each column’s type from its values, so amounts sum and dates sort.
04

Your sheet stays yours

Orcabase reads as a Viewer. It never edits the sheet, and you can stop sharing any time.

Numbers worth defining

Define them once. Every answer agrees.

Tell Orcabase what each number means, certify it, and your dashboards, the agent and your whole team use the same one. The agent can draft these from your Google Sheets data.

How metrics work

  • Revenue vs target

Actual revenue as a share of the target in your planning sheet.

  • Cost per order

Monthly costs from your sheet divided by paid orders.

  • Monthly burn

Money out minus money in, each month, from your cash tab.

  • Runway

Cash in the bank divided by the average monthly burn.

Dashboards to start with

Your Google Sheets numbers at a glance.

Ask the agent to build one of these, or pin charts yourself. Share any dashboard with a link.

Questions

About Google Sheets and Orcabase

More in the docs: Sync Google Sheets

What makes a sheet sync well?
Column names in row 1 with the data right under them, one kind of value per column, and one dataset per tab. Titles or notes above the header come in as data.
Can Orcabase change my spreadsheet?
No. It reads the sheet as a Viewer and never writes to it. If you stop sharing, the next sync can’t read it and the source shows an error until you share it again.
Does it work with Excel files?
Not directly. Save the sheet as CSV and upload it, or keep it in Google Sheets and sync it so it stays fresh.
How fresh is my Google Sheets data in Orcabase?
As fresh as you like: syncs run every 15 minutes to once a day, and Sync now runs one straight away. If a sync fails, the last good copy stays in place.
