How much came in through PayPal last month, after fees?

Reading your PayPal data…

PayPal brought in $6.9k in August, 14% of revenue, and kept $312 in fees.

  • That’s 4.5% of PayPal sales, against 3.1% on Stripe.
  • Small one-time orders pay the most in fees, proportionally.
  • PayPal sales dipped with one-time orders after free shipping ended.

In plain words

How can I report on PayPal transactions?

Fivetran copies your PayPal transactions into a database Orcabase hosts for you: every payment, refund and fee, with its currency and status. Then you ask in plain words, like “how much did PayPal bring in last month, after fees?”

Because it sits next to your store and your other payment tools, you can finally see total revenue across all of them in one chart.

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your PayPal data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • How much did PayPal bring in each month this year?

  • What share of our revenue comes through PayPal?

  • How much did PayPal fees cost us last quarter?

  • Which customers pay with PayPal most often?

  • How much did we refund through PayPal last month?

  • Do PayPal buyers spend more or less per order?

  • How much came in from each country?

  • Show me PayPal and Stripe revenue side by side.

How to connect

Connect PayPal, step by step.

  1. 1

    Find it in Sync data

In Orcabase, go to Sync data → Add source and search for PayPal. Pick the database to sync into.

  2. 2

    Connect PayPal on Fivetran’s page

Fivetran’s page asks for the client ID and secret of a PayPal app, which you create in PayPal’s developer dashboard. Fivetran’s guide shows which permissions it needs.

  3. 3

    Choose what to sync

Back in Orcabase, tick the data you want. Only what you pick is synced, and only it counts toward your allowance.

  4. 4

    Ask away

The first sync starts straight away. When it’s done, ask the agent about your PayPal data.

What you’ll need

Questions

About PayPal and Orcabase

More in the docs: Sync apps with Fivetran

Why do I need to create a PayPal app?
PayPal shares account data through apps you create yourself. It’s a one-time step in PayPal’s developer dashboard, and Fivetran’s guide walks you through it.
Can Orcabase move money in my PayPal account?
No. Orcabase only ever reads the synced copy of your transactions. It can’t send, refund or move anything.
Do I need a Fivetran account?
No. Orcabase uses its own. You sign in to PayPal on Fivetran’s page, and the data lands in a database Orcabase hosts for you, so there’s nothing else to set up or pay Fivetran for.
How fresh is my PayPal data in Orcabase?
Fivetran syncs it every 6 hours as standard, and an admin can run a sync by hand at any time. The page for each source shows when it last synced and when it syncs next.
What does syncing cost?
Counts toward your monthly sync allowance: 500,000 changed rows a month, as standard. Each distinct row that’s added or changed in a month counts once, however often it changes, and the first full copy is free. You choose which tables sync, so you only spend the allowance on what you need.
