How I got this· 4 steps
  1. Looked at your Chargebee invoices and transactions
  2. Found invoices with failed payments
  3. Checked which were paid after retries
  4. Grouped the rest by reason

In plain words

How do I analyze Chargebee subscription data?

Fivetran copies your Chargebee subscriptions, customers, invoices and transactions into a database Orcabase hosts for you. You define the numbers you care about, like MRR and churn, once, and certify them.

Then you ask, like “how much MRR did we lose to failed payments?”, and the agent works it out, shows the chart and tells you how.

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your Chargebee data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • What’s our MRR, and how did it change this month?

  • How much did failed payments cost us, and how much came back?

  • Which plans churn most?

  • How many customers upgraded or downgraded last month?

  • What share of invoices are paid late?

  • Which coupons bring customers who stay?

  • How many subscriptions renew next month?

  • Show me revenue by plan for the last 12 months.

How metrics work

  • MRR

Monthly value of active subscriptions, after discounts.

  • Churn rate

Share of subscriptions active at the start of the month that ended during it.

  • Recovered revenue

Failed payments later paid, as a share of all failed payments.

  • Expansion MRR

MRR added by upgrades and add-ons.

About dashboards

Better together

Ask across Chargebee and the rest of your business.

The best questions need more than one app. The agent can pull from several sources for one answer.

How to connect

Connect Chargebee, step by step.

  1. 1

    Find it in Sync data

In Orcabase, go to Sync data → Add source and search for Chargebee. Pick the database to sync into.

  2. 2

    Connect Chargebee on Fivetran’s page

Fivetran’s page asks you to sign in to Chargebee, or for an API key. Your login goes to Fivetran, never to Orcabase.

  3. 3

    Choose what to sync

Back in Orcabase, tick the data you want. Only what you pick is synced, and only it counts toward your allowance.

  4. 4

    Ask away

The first sync starts straight away. When it’s done, ask the agent about your Chargebee data.

What you’ll need

  • A Chargebee login that can create an API key, like an admin.
  • The Admin role in Orcabase, and data hosting: Fivetran writes into a database Orcabase hosts for you.

Questions

About Chargebee and Orcabase

More in the docs: Sync apps with Fivetran

Can Orcabase change subscriptions or retry payments?
No. Orcabase only reads the synced copy of your Chargebee data. Billing stays entirely in Chargebee.
Will Orcabase’s MRR match Chargebee’s reports?
It can, if you define it the same way. In Orcabase you decide how discounts, add-ons and currencies count, and every chart shows how the number is worked out.
Do I need a Fivetran account?
No. Orcabase uses its own. You sign in to Chargebee on Fivetran’s page, and the data lands in a database Orcabase hosts for you, so there’s nothing else to set up or pay Fivetran for.
How fresh is my Chargebee data in Orcabase?
Fivetran syncs it every 6 hours as standard, and an admin can run a sync by hand at any time. The page for each source shows when it last synced and when it syncs next.
What does syncing cost?
Counts toward your monthly sync allowance: 500,000 changed rows a month, as standard. Each distinct row that’s added or changed in a month counts once, however often it changes, and the first full copy is free. You choose which tables sync, so you only spend the allowance on what you need.
