Where did visitors come from in August, and which sources bought?

Reading your Google Analytics data…

Search brought the most visitors, 38%, but email converted best: 4.1%.

  • Social brought 24% of visitors and converted at 1.2%.
  • Visits from phones converted half as often as from computers.
  • The coffee subscription guide is the top landing page from search.

How I got this· 4 steps
  1. Looked at your Google Analytics traffic reports
  2. Grouped August visits by source
  3. Divided key events by visits for each
  4. Split the results by device

In plain words

Is there an easier way to use Google Analytics 4?

Yes: ask it questions. Fivetran brings GA4’s reports (visitors by day, source, page and device, and the key events it counted) into a database Orcabase hosts for you. The agent answers in plain words, with a chart.

Because your orders and payments sit right next to it, you can finally ask which traffic turns into customers, not just visits.

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your Google Analytics data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • How many people visited last week, and from where?

  • Which pages bring visitors who buy?

  • Which sources convert best?

  • How does traffic from phones compare with computers?

  • Which blog posts bring the most visitors from search?

  • How did traffic change after our launch?

  • Which countries do visitors come from?

  • Show me visitors and orders by week, side by side.

01

Traffic

Visitors, sessions and engaged sessions, day by day.
02

Sources

Where visitors came from: search, ads, email, social and other sites.
03

Pages

Numbers worth defining

Define them once. Every answer agrees.

Tell Orcabase what each number means, certify it, and your dashboards, the agent and your whole team use the same one. The agent can draft these from your Google Analytics data.

How metrics work

  • Conversion rate

    Key events divided by sessions.

  • Visitors

Distinct users in the period, as GA4 counts them.

  • Engaged sessions

Sessions over 10 seconds, or with a key event or two page views.

  • Revenue per visitor

Revenue from your store divided by visitors.

Dashboards to start with

Questions

About Google Analytics and Orcabase

More in the docs: Sync apps with Fivetran

Does Orcabase get every event from GA4?
No: GA4’s API only shares reports, not raw events. Fivetran brings in a set of standard reports, and you can add your own. If you export GA4 to BigQuery, connect BigQuery to reach every event.
Why don’t GA4’s numbers match our orders?
They count different things. GA4 counts the visits and events its tag sees, and some browsers block it; your store counts orders. Orcabase shows both side by side, so you can see how they relate.
Do I need a Fivetran account?
No. Orcabase uses its own. You sign in to Google Analytics on Fivetran’s page, and the data lands in a database Orcabase hosts for you, so there’s nothing else to set up or pay Fivetran for.
How fresh is my Google Analytics data in Orcabase?
Fivetran syncs it every 6 hours as standard, and an admin can run a sync by hand at any time. The page for each source shows when it last synced and when it syncs next.
What does syncing cost?
Counts toward your monthly sync allowance: 500,000 changed rows a month, as standard. Each distinct row that’s added or changed in a month counts once, however often it changes, and the first full copy is free. You choose which tables sync, so you only spend the allowance on what you need.
