Google BigQuery + Orcabase

Your BigQuery data, without writing a query.

Already keep data in BigQuery, like your Google Analytics or Firebase export? Point Orcabase at it. Ask in plain words, get the answer and the chart, and pay Google only for what each question reads.

Where do visitors drop off between product page and checkout?

Reading your Google BigQuery data…

Most people drop off at the cart: 62% leave before checkout.

  • 8,940 visitors saw a product page in August; 1,120 reached checkout.
  • Visitors on phones leave the cart twice as often as on computers.
  • Of those who start checkout, 71% finish it.

How I got this· 4 steps
  1. Looked at your Google Analytics export
  2. Followed each visitor’s steps
  3. Counted who reached each step
  4. Split drop-off by device

In plain words

Can I ask questions about my BigQuery data in plain English?

Yes. Orcabase signs in to your Google Cloud project with a service account that can read and run questions, but can’t change or delete anything. The agent looks at your datasets, works out the answer and shows it as a chart.

The data never leaves BigQuery. Each question runs in your own project, and Google bills it there, at Google’s prices.

Ask in plain words

What you can ask about your Google BigQuery data

The agent answers with the number, a chart and the steps it took. Keep the good answers on a dashboard.

  • Which pages do buyers visit before their first order?

  • How many people came back to the site within a week?

  • Which campaigns bring visitors who buy?

  • What’s our conversion rate by device and country?

  • How long does a typical visit last on each page?

  • Which events happen most before someone subscribes?

  • Show me daily active users for the last 90 days.

  • Which app screens do people leave from?

What Orcabase can read

Everything in Google BigQuery, read where it lives.

Stays in your database. Orcabase keeps only the latest result of each saved chart, so dashboards open fast.

01

Every dataset you share

Datasets show up as folders, and their tables load when you open them, so big projects stay quick.
02

Exports from Google’s tools

Google Analytics, Firebase and Google Ads exports read like everything else.
03

Only what you allow

Grant access on individual datasets to keep the rest of the project out of sight.
04

Your data stays put

Nothing is copied out of BigQuery. Orcabase keeps only each saved chart’s latest result.

Numbers worth defining

Define them once. Every answer agrees.

Tell Orcabase what each number means, certify it, and your dashboards, the agent and your whole team use the same one. The agent can draft these from your Google BigQuery data.

How metrics work

  • Conversion rate

Share of visitors who complete a purchase in the same visit.

  • Daily active users

Distinct users who do anything on a given day.

  • Cart abandonment

Share of carts that never reach a paid order.

  • Returning visitors

Share of visitors who come back within 7 days.

Dashboards to start with

Your Google BigQuery numbers at a glance.

Ask the agent to build one of these, or pin charts yourself. Share any dashboard with a link.

About dashboards

How to connect

Connect Google BigQuery, step by step.

  1. 1

    Create a service account

In Google Cloud, create a service account and give it two roles: BigQuery Data Viewer and BigQuery Job User. It can read and run questions, and nothing else.

  2. 2

    Download its key

Create a JSON key for it. You’ll paste its contents into Orcabase, and can delete the file afterwards.

  3. 3

    Add it to Orcabase

Go to Data Sources → New data source, pick Google BigQuery, and enter your project ID and the key.

  4. 4

    Test, then ask

Click Test connection, then ask the agent about your data.

What you’ll need

  • A Google Cloud project with BigQuery turned on.
  • Permission to create a service account and a key in that project.

Questions

About Google BigQuery and Orcabase

More in the docs: Connect Google BigQuery

What does it cost to ask questions?
BigQuery bills questions to your Google Cloud project, usually by how much data each one reads. Orcabase adds nothing on top. On tables split by date, like the Google Analytics export, a question about last week reads far less than one about all time.
Can I limit what Orcabase sees?
Yes. Give the service account BigQuery Data Viewer on individual datasets instead of the whole project. BigQuery Job User stays on the project, since that’s where questions run.
Does it work with the Google Analytics 4 export?
Yes. If your GA4 property exports to BigQuery, Orcabase can read every event in it, which goes deeper than the reports GA4 shares through its API.
Does Orcabase copy my Google BigQuery data?
No. Every question reads it where it lives. Orcabase keeps only the latest result of each saved chart, up to 5,000 rows, so dashboards open quickly.

Your Google BigQuery data already has the answers.

Connect it, ask your first question, and pin the answers you want to see every week.
